A Major Milestone in Our Journey to Empower Burundians
We are excited to share that Burundian Bridge has been selected as a recipient of the Big Idea Grant (B.I.G) 2023/2024 under the Bridge and Build Fund by the Foundation for Black Communities (FFBC)! This recognition is a testament to our commitment to empowering Burundian youth through education, mentorship, and community development.
This grant will provide us with essential resources to expand our initiatives, helping us make a tangible impact in the lives of young Burundians by fostering access to education, career pathways, and professional development.
What the Big Idea Grant Means for Burundian Bridge
The Big Idea Grant 2.0 (B.I.G. 2.0) is a transformative initiative designed to invest in bold, community-driven solutions that combat anti-Black racism, improve social and economic outcomes, and foster sustainable development. Through this funding, Burundian Bridge will:
✅ Scale our education and mentorship programs to support more students and young professionals.
✅ Develop new career pathways by providing training, scholarships, and professional networking opportunities.
✅ Enhance digital and in-person resources to bridge the gap between education and employment for Burundians.
✅ Strengthen community partnerships to create a lasting impact.
This grant will allow us to expand our reach and implement high-impact initiatives that will help young Burundians thrive academically, professionally, and socially.
About the Bridge and Build Fund
The Bridge and Build Fund, spearheaded by the Foundation for Black Communities, is dedicated to empowering Black-led, Black-mandated, and Black-serving organizations in Canada. The program acknowledges and funds innovative projects that directly benefit Black communities, ensuring that organizations like Burundian Bridge have the capacity to drive meaningful and sustainable change.
The Big Idea Grant 2.0 is part of FFBC’s $9.5 million investment in Black communities, supporting solution-oriented projects that address key social and economic challenges.
